this is a very good tab book. one of the best i’ve ever seen. it is very specific on when effects are used, what type, the denotation of things such as pinch harmonics. the dvd that came with it was not horribly helpful, but that doesn’t matter because the book is so good. i would highly recommend this book and this company (alfred) for any guitarist, no matter what skill level.

This tab book is awesome. I had been hoping and waiting for this since I first heard the Dethalbum. The tabs are extremely accurate and has all the crazy harmonies that Brendon Small adds, which gives the songs that signature Dethklok sound. On some songs there a like 5-6 guitars going at once. The only disappointment was that it does not have the songs Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle, Hatredy, Blood Ocean, Murdertrain’ A’ Comin’, and the one I was most disappointed about, Pickles’ song Kill You. Other than that this tab book is awesome. And if you are a Dethklol fan and play guitar you should buy this. And learn every song. I can’t wait until they release the Dethalbum II tab book. Which if you don’t have the new album. You should purchase it immediately! It is amazingly brutal.
Rating: 5 / 5
Totally brutal. 120 pages. Most tracks have at least 3-5 guitars going at once, so it can be overwhelming for solo guitar performances, but lots of work went into this. The intro is quite amusing, there are a few colored page spreads which probably add to the cost and there are background images scattered throughout the book.
The DVD is kind of weak, and has the Skwisgaar lesson from the season 1 dvd, and the Brendon Small Deththeme lesson that can easily be found on youtube.
All the tabs seem spot on, and if one is to compare the Thunderhorse transcription in the the book to the one from Guitar World, the book’s version is in a different position and I personally find it easier to play.
All in all, easy to read, a lot of fun to play, and due to the multiple guitars that were tracked, can be broken into several skill levels. If you want to learn Dethklok songs, stick with this book, and avoid most of the lame free tabs that can be found on the internet.
